The city of Vienna is certainly no stranger to culture and business. Many small businesses inhabit the downtown area, including some additional landmarks such as Tysons Corner, Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, and a Washington Metro Rail Station with big parking garages (the western terminus of the Orange Line) just south of the town. The school system of Vienna includes Oakton and Madison High schools, in addition to six elementary schools and two middle schools. These schools have the honor of being part of one of the best rated public school systems in the country: Fairfax County public schools. However, in spite of the many schools in the area, only four of them boast a location within the legal city limits.
If you´re looking for a town with plenty of recreational activities and events, Vienna is it. Many events occur in Vienna, such as the Family Flashlight Hunt (an Easter Egg hunt), Family Skate Night, Old Fashioned Egg Roll and Easter Fun, Movies in the Park, Youth Summer Camps (including, but not limited to Tennis Camps, Basketball Camps, Fencing Camps, and more), and even the Annual Writing Your Personal History Symposium at the Vienna Community Center. In Vienna, you´ll never run out of fun things to do!
Ayr Hill was the original name of the town of Vienna. Ayr Hill came from the birthplace of John Hunter, a former resident of Scotland. William Hendrick, a doctor, changed the name of Ayr Hill to Vienna. Originally from New York, Hendrick offered to move to Ayr Hill if they changed the name to reflect that of his original town: Vienna, New York.
